A little about me...




An average girl next door who grew up on a farm loving the outdoors and sports. God gave me a second chance to life.  After a battle of meningitis at age 13 months, I have come to embrace an abundant life of growing faith.  Sure, I grew up with profound hearing loss as a result of that brush with death, but it was that exact experience that taught me perseverance and endurance.  

God has helped me to overcome daily struggles and has taught me the application of Philippians 4:13.  I am an Ironman, an amateur triathlete, a doctor in occupational therapy, a wife, a doggy mom, a sister, a daughter, and granddaughter, but most importantly, I am a child of God and here to share His love through Sprinkles of JOY.

The one thing I anticipated before race day, was the last half of the marathon to be both mentally and physically tough.   Therefore, I had over 30 family and friends send me verses (some sent the same verse) and quotes for each mile of the run to keep me going strong one mile at a time.   Regardless of what could happen.   The day turned into night making it the most difficult challenge I have ever faced… The Run (26.2 miles)…the land of Zombies : My plan for transition 2 was to simply remove my bike shoes, put on fresh socks, running shoes and stock my pockets, reapply sunscreen, and use the restroom.   As I was on my way out, I realized I forgot my verses and quotes!!! From the Ears of an Active Deaf Girl

Hearing loss is something that feels “normal” to me since I can’t remember a time that I could hear.   Learning of my hearing loss devastated my parents, but as a child, I was innocent and didn’t know any different.   It’s a challenge I live with daily and few truly know the walk I take in life.    To some, my life seems “happy.”   To my family it may seem frustrating.   To children it creates curiosity.   To the public eye it may seem like a disability.   To me…it’s a battle of highs and lows.   Quality of life is not tangible, is not on green paper, and is not a possession.   Nothing else matters when it comes to your quality of life.   For the first time, I’ve decided to share what the world sounds like from an active deaf girl… Having approximately 50% hearing loss in one ear and 70% loss in the other labels me as “severe to profoundly” deaf.    Without my hearing aids, I basically hear muffles and with my hearing aids, I spend lots of extra time during my day comprehending wh

A Christmas Miracle under the microscope

Monday morning, I saw life before it was even formed. I had prayed for days before heading into the clinic for answers. I had this peace and hope settling over me all while feeling anxious. The kind of anxious like waiting to start a race or waiting to hear test results. I wanted to hear the black and white answer. Instead, I saw a glimpse of a miracle.  Unexplained infertility continues to be a mystery for most.  I’m going to stop right here and apologize for TMI (too much information) on this post . But, for my husband and I, all the parts are squeaky clean…except for, well…the sperm to meet the egg, or conception to follow through, or for an embryo to stick to the walls. I know every couple that face fertility challenges have a roller coaster of emotions, but for me, I wanted someone to tell me that I can or can’t have kids.
